An idea that I’ve been playing around with lately is having spectators say “Yes” when selecting cards via a Riffle or Dribble Force. I never liked the idea of a spectator saying “Stop” when selecting a card. So simply use the word “Yes” instead of “Stop”, and see how it goes.

Another idea is to have them name the corporate client that booked you for an event, i.e. When I dribble the cards, simply say “Nike” and that’s where your card shall be.

You also have this opportunity to add your personality or humor into your presentation, i.e. When I dribble the cards, yell “Giddy up!” and that’s where your card shall be.

Have you tried this out? If so, would love to hear how it went for you.

I just finished reading the January 2012 issue of Magicseen. I thought the article on Cyril Takayama was amazing, and shared some interesting stories, i.e. Why Cyril was awarded 2nd place at FISM and no 1st place was awarded. There is also a great article on making the jump from semi-pro to a professional magician. I think the business advice is pretty straight-forward, but it’s one of those things where it doesn’t hurt to read it again.

Have you read this issue of Magicseen? If so, I would love to hear your comments!
